L'Oréal has announced an investment-backed plan to establish its first global Tech Hub in Hyderabad, marking a significant funding commitment toward artificial intelligence driven innovation in the beauty sector.

The announcement was made following discussions at the World Economic Forum 2026, where the company formalised a partnership with the Government of Telangana, positioning the initiative as a key outcome of the 2026 India France Year of Innovation.

The Hyderabad hub represents L'Oréal's first dedicated global Beauty Tech centre and is backed by an investment of more than INR 3,500 crore to be deployed through 2030.

The funding will support infrastructure, advanced digital platforms, and large scale talent development focused on data science, AI, generative AI, and agentic AI. According to the company, the hub is expected to create around 2,000 high value technology roles over the next five years, reflecting a long term capital commitment rather than a short term expansion.

Hyderabad was selected due to its established technology ecosystem and growing pool of AI and engineering talent, aligning with India's increasing role as a destination for high impact global R&D funding.

Nicolas Hieronimus, Chief Executive Officer of L'Oréal, said, "Building on more than three decades of presence in India, this investment allows us to place world class Indian tech and AI expertise at the centre of our global digital transformation." He added that the company views India as a strategic partner in shaping future technology led business models.

From a public sector perspective, the funding is seen as a boost to Telangana's long term economic roadmap. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said, "This investment reflects the confidence global enterprises have in our innovation ecosystem and directly contributes to our vision of creating high value employment and global digital leadership."

The hub will integrate into L'Oréal's existing international tech network, which spans North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, enabling cross border collaboration and shared technology development. State officials highlighted that the initiative aligns with Telangana's push to attract sustained foreign direct investment in advanced technology rather than transactional manufacturing projects.

D Sridhar Babu, Minister for IT, Electronics and Industries, noted, "Large scale investments like this signal a shift toward India being a creator of core AI capabilities for global industries."

With this move, L'Oréal reinforces India's position as a funding destination for next generation digital infrastructure and applied AI, while anchoring its own long term innovation spend in the country.
