upGrad has announced the acquisition of Internshala, an early-talent marketplace, through a 90% stock-swap transaction. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The move is expected to strengthen upGrad's presence across the career lifecycle by linking education, skills training, and employment opportunities on a single platform.
Founded in 2010, Internshala has built a network of more than 34 million registered users and over 450,000 employers. The platform records around three million active applicants each year and draws most of its traffic organically. It serves students nationwide, with over 40% of its users coming from tier II and tier III cities.
Through the integration, upGrad aims to create a structured ecosystem that helps students find internships, develop job-ready skills, and transition into full-time roles more efficiently.
The company plans to invest further in product development, artificial intelligence-based talent matching, and enterprise hiring solutions. It also aims to scale Internshala's revenue from about INR 45 crore to INR 100 crore and beyond.
Internshala will continue operating as an independent brand under Founder and CEO Sarvesh Agrawal. The platform is expected to leverage upGrad's technology and learning infrastructure to expand its reach and offerings.
Founded in 2015, upGrad provides online and hybrid skilling programs and partners with universities to deliver higher-education credentials and workforce training solutions.
