QUIZ: Step away from the sweat pants . . .
Before you trade your business suit for a sweat suit, here are a few questions to consider. For each statement below, check Column A if the sentence sounds nothing like you, Column C if you feel you're the poster child and Column B if you're somewhere in between.
You won't get a grade here, but if Column C is teeming with check marks, feel free to dance a little jig: You clearly have the makings of a successful home-based entrepreneur. If the bulk of your marks landed in Column A, working from home may be best left a fantasy.
Most people--even those who successfully work at home--fall somewhere in the middle. You have to be prepared to improvise if you want to successfully work where you sleep. Just remember: More than half of all small businesses are home-based. With some honest introspection and planning, you can make the road less traveled your way to work. --Kate Lister
