Young Rembrandts Franchise Inc.Art classes for children ages 3 to 12Background
Founded: 1988 Franchising since: 1997
Bette Fetter, a mother of three young children, was working at a preschool when a friend mentioned the difficulty she was having in finding art classes for young children. A watercolor artist with a degree in studio art, Fetter knew she was an ideal candidate to start such a program. Her program, Young Rembrandts, focused on drawing, and Fetter was soon teaching it to preschool children. After years of fine-tuning, the techniques and subject matter were adapted to two age groups (3- to 5-year-olds and 6- to 12-year-olds), and the program was taken into day-care centers, parks and after-school programs.
Young Rembrandts franchises teach weekly drawing and cartooning classes and offer three-week drawing camps.
