Are You Making These Common Job Interview Mistakes? Ace your next job interview, regardless of whether you're asking the questions or answering them.
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own.
In this video, Entrepreneuer Network partner Business Rockstars sits down with Erin Rothman, CEO and co-founder of Stormsensor, who shares her best and worst interview stories, and her suggested do's and don'ts for a successful interview.
Some of the highlights from the conversation include:
- Rothman recounts the time a prospective administrative assistant started texting during the job interview. Even if you do happen to be an assistant and your job relies on being responsive to communications, you should never be checking your phone during an interview.
- Rothman discusses one of her favorite job interviews ever, which went so well that she made the applicant an offer within minutes of the interview concluding. If you're sure you have the right candidate, sometimes there's no point in delaying and giving that person a reason to look elsewhere.
- Rothman explains why her least favorite interview question is "Where do you see yourself in five years?" Then, she breaks down how she likes to turn that question around on whoever asked it. If you can't answer your own question, it might not be fair to ask -- and you may not even know what a good answer looks like.
