New online platform gives Florida contractor license candidates timed practice exams, video lessons, flashcards, math preparation, and instructor support designed around the realities of the state licensing exam

ORLANDO, Fla. — License Fix School, a Florida contractor license exam preparation school, announced the launch of its Pearson VUE-inspired student portal, an online learning platform designed to help candidates prepare not only for the content of Florida contractor licensing exams, but also for the way those exams are actually taken.

The new portal places timed practice at the center of the preparation process. Candidates can work through mock exams, navigate questions on a computer, practice using reference books under time pressure, review concepts through flashcards, watch instructor-led lessons, and receive support when they encounter difficult topics.

The launch addresses a challenge License Fix School says it has repeatedly observed among Florida contractors preparing for licensure: professional experience in construction does not automatically translate into familiarity with the state licensing exam.

A contractor may have spent 10 or 15 years managing crews, estimating projects, working with clients, and solving problems on the jobsite. The licensing exam, however, requires a different set of skills. Candidates must interpret questions, identify the correct reference material, locate information quickly, manage their time, and make decisions while the clock is running.

“Even though these exams allow candidates to use approved reference books, there is still a time limit and a testing format that many experienced contractors have never dealt with before,” said Caua Cunha, CEO of License Fix School. “We wanted the portal to give students a place where they could practice that process before exam day. They can take mock exams, learn where to find information in their books, identify where they are losing time, and become more comfortable with the testing experience.”

Cunha said the platform was also developed around the schedules of working contractors.

“Many of our students are studying before work, after work, between jobs, or while running their own companies,” he said. “That is why we included flashcards for shorter study periods, video lessons for subjects that require deeper explanation, math preparation, and practice exams for the moments when students can sit down and train under timed conditions.”

The timed mock exams are built around the dynamics of computer-based testing administered by Pearson VUE, including question navigation and time management. The objective is to help candidates identify weak areas before exam day and practice locating information efficiently in their reference materials.

The portal is inspired by the computer-based testing experience candidates can expect, but License Fix School is not affiliated with Pearson VUE.

For candidates comparing Florida contractor exam prep programs, familiarity with the testing environment is becoming another factor to consider alongside instructor experience, study materials, reference books, student support, and class availability. These are also among the factors candidates may evaluate when searching for the best school for general contractor license in Florida.

General contractor and business and finance preparation

The student portal supports candidates preparing for multiple Florida contractor licensing categories.

Programs include preparation for Business and Finance, Certified General Contractor, Certified Building Contractor, Certified Residential Contractor, and specialty trades including Roofing, HVAC, and Solar.

Business and Finance and General Contractor preparation are among the central areas of the platform.

Instructor-led video lessons explain subjects that may be difficult to understand through independent reading alone. Dedicated math preparation addresses quantitative topics that can become a challenge for candidates who have been away from formal mathematics for years.

Flashcards allow students to review concepts during shorter periods of free time, while instructor support gives candidates a resource when they encounter questions they cannot resolve independently.

Courses are available in English and Spanish.

Rather than simply providing access to study materials, License Fix School says the portal is designed to create a structured preparation process combining content review, exam-format practice, time management, and instructor guidance.

A portal designed around working contractors

Many contractor license candidates continue working full time while preparing for their exams.

For someone managing projects, crews, clients, estimates, and family responsibilities, attending classes several hours away or setting aside long uninterrupted study periods may not always be practical.

The online portal allows candidates to divide their preparation into different formats based on the time available. A student may review flashcards during a short break, watch a video lesson in the evening, and reserve a longer period for a timed practice exam.

License Fix School also continues to offer in-person learning options for students who prefer classroom instruction.

According to the company, the goal is not to replace in-person education, but to give working contractors more flexibility in how they prepare for Florida licensing exams.

Candidates can try the Florida business and finance prep course before enrolling

To allow prospective students to experience the learning environment before purchasing a full program, License Fix School offers a free introductory Business and Finance course.

Candidates can use the course to become familiar with the platform, evaluate the teaching format, and determine how online preparation fits into their work schedule.

Enrollment is currently open at LicenseFixSchool.com.

Programs are available for Business and Finance, General Contractor, Building Contractor, Residential Contractor, and multiple construction trades. Depending on the program selected, candidates can choose options that include course access, books and tabs, or course-only preparation.

“Contractors already bring years of real-world knowledge with them,” Cunha said. “Our job is to help them translate that experience into the specific skills the exam requires. We want students to arrive knowing how to navigate the questions, use their books efficiently, manage the clock, and understand what to expect before the real exam begins.”
