Launching a Website: Mistakes to Avoid
Where do new websites fall short? We talked to our panel of online experts to get their thoughts on what to avoid.
Not thinking about the user. Ryan A. Cieslak, eBusiness Product Marketing Director at 1&1 Internet, Inc., says you should factor in how the site should function and on what device for the ultimate user experience.
Hiring someone who’s not professional. If you hire a web designer, make sure you get the best value for your money, says Karen Leland, president of Sterling Marketing Group. You need to ensure they can deliver what they promise: a top-notch site.
Losing sight of your goals. Always remember what you want your website to do, whether it’s increasing sales or collecting leads. “Defining what your core action is,” says Ezra Firestone, an ecommerce expert and the founder of SmartMarketer, “that’s one of your first steps.”
