2014's Most Overhyped Innovation

While 3-D printing isn’t new, it seemed ever present in 2014. The technology churned out customized Oreo cookies at this year’s SXSW and the printers popped up all over -- including certain UPS and Staples locations. But while manufacturing guns or even shoes from a home printer grabbed the headlines, the technology’s ability to solve bigger problems sometimes went overlooked. Our innovation experts Donald Spector, an inventor and futurist, and JD Albert, Bresslergroup’s director of engineering, debate its value and remind us what the technology can really offer.
