The FAA hinted it may ease rules on whether companies can fly drones beyond an operator's field of vision. Meanwhile, two U.S. senators are pushing to legalize commercial drone use. The FAA has yet to approve a final set of laws for companies like Amazon pioneering drone delivery systems.

In other tech news, Facebook is teaming up with major publishers like NY Times and BuzzFeed to change the way users read articles on the social network's mobile app. The company says its "Instant Articles" tool will display stories directly to the newsfeed. 

And Samsung is backing the Internet of Things by introducing "Artik," a new platform to help entrepreneurs get IoT devices to market quickly.
