There is not only one best way to get the highest level of productivity from your employees. In fact, the Hawthorne Effect proves that a work environment that does not change will only produce stagnancy.
In this video, Impromptu Guru Jill Schiefelbein talks about how, in the 1950s, the Hawthorne Works electric plant experimented with slight workplace environmental changes such as raising and dimming the lights for a time to see how that would effect productivity. The result was that productivity stayed the same or heightened to the tune of these small changes.
Why? Because workers needs were being paid attention to -- and they were being communicated with.
