It's that time of the year again. While summer vacations may still be in full swing, retailers are gearing up for back-to-school shopping.

According to a July 2013 survey of over 1,000 consumers conducted by consulting firm Deloitte, both parents and kids get most of their back-to-school shopping ideas from word of mouth.
