Key Takeaways

  • Costco and Nike quietly launched Kirkland Signature SB Dunk Lows at select warehouses on Friday for $134.99.
  • Enthusiastic buyers lined up at Costco’s warehouses for the shoes, with some immediately flipping pairs on resale platforms.
  • On StockX, sellers resold 660 pairs of the shoes over the weekend, with the highest sale reaching $600.

Nike and Costco quietly released the Kirkland Signature SB Dunks at select Costco stores throughout the U.S. on Friday, without any marketing or promotion. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the sneaker dropped at warehouses in New York, Oregon, California and Washington. It retailed for $134.99 and sold out at multiple Costco locations.

Costco’s surprise collaboration with Nike on a Kirkland-branded SB Dunk Low sneaker has turned the shoe into one of the biggest resale items of the year so far. The sneaker reportedly sold out at multiple locations and flipped for several times its retail price within days of its debut.

Videos posted to social media and YouTube from stores showed shoppers lining up around pallets of sneakers, with many people on their phones checking resale prices in real time as they tried to secure their size. The shoes did not appear on Costco’s website, and neither Costco nor Nike has clarified how many pairs of shoes they produced or whether more restocks are on the way. Costco limited sales to one pair of shoes per customer.

The sneaker leans heavily on Costco’s own branding. Costco and Nike made the shoes from a gray material meant to echo the popular Kirkland Signature hoodie, according to videos reviewing the shoe. The sneakers have a sweatshirt-like outer texture and an inner lining that mimics the soft, pilled feel of a worn-in sweater.

The sneakers include a detachable hangtag styled after a Costco Executive Membership card. On the underside of the insole, there is a graphic of Costco’s famous $1.50 hot dog combo.

Shoppers treated the Kirkland SB Dunks as more of a limited sneaker boutique collaboration than a warehouse buy. Third-party seller websites, including StockX, eBay and Goat, currently have the shoe available for between $400 to $5,000. Fox Business reports that on StockX alone, sellers resold 660 pairs of the shoes over the weekend, with the highest sale reaching $600.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Kirkland Signature is Costco’s in-house, value-driven brand. Costco CEO Ron Vachris told the WSJ that Kirkland is an $80 billion brand that “drives a lot of sales” and “builds a lot of loyalty to our members.”

The Kirkland Signature logo now carries enough weight to anchor a limited sneaker drop. Multiple Kirkland logos appear on the Kirkland SB Dunks shoe, including on the exterior, tongue and insole, according to social media posts of the shoe.

More broadly, Costco’s sales are on the rise. Its latest earnings report showed that for the three months ending November 23, its revenue rose to $67.31 billion, up from $62.15 billion at the same time in 2024. In the same recent quarter, its net income rose to $2 billion, up from $1.8 billion in the year-ago quarter.
