Lyle Maul, for one, founded eVirtual Suites in Los Angeleslast November as a way to meet the demands of the growing homebasedbusiness community. "We wanted to level the playing field andgive the small guy the same advantages the big guy has," hesays.

EVirtual Suites offers packages priced from $165 to $399 a monththat include a variety of services, including 24-hour access totheir T1-enabled Byte Café and technology-equipped conferencerooms; a professional business address and phone number;administrative support; and your very own"telereceptionist" to answer your calls, in the flesh, and patch them through to you, wherever you may be. "A lot ofbusinesses can't afford to advertise, or they advertise inlimited places, but everyone has a phone," says Maul."The more professionally your phone is answered, the moreimpressive you are to clients and prospects."

Scheduled to open 10 offices over the next two years in SouthernCalifornia and nationally, eVirtual Suites, which expects to have300 clients by the end of June, is making its mark on a growingindustry. "[Serviced offices] take advantage of all the trendsgoing on in the marketplace, like trying to have a higher qualityof life, spending more time with family and avoiding costlycommutes," says Maul. "This gives you the ability to beon the run, make more money and be more efficient."

For homebased entrepreneurs who may only need a conference roomonce in a while or who can't afford to hire a staff ofassistants, companies like eVirtual Suites can mean a moreprofessional image and less time spent on time-suckingadministrative tasks.
