Fresh fruit smoothies were a virtually unknown product in 1982, when Jeff and Jill Summerhays began selling them part-time at events. The company caught the eye of Michael Haith, founding partner of a food, beverage and special-event consulting firm. Haith revamped the franchise concept and expanded the product line, which now includes Hawaiian coffees and espresso.
