The launch is approaching. Deborah Nail, our intrepid makeoverentrepreneur, has worked with Web design and marketing companyInterlandand settled on a new look for www.pursesnickety.com. It's cleaner, trendier andmore professional, but it's also loaded with the fun spirit ofthe products. Just take a look at the before and afterpictures.

The substance underneath is just as important as the look. SteveSchultz, Interland's director of business solutions and designservices, has been in on the process since the beginning. After theinitial consultation, Schultz and Nail decided to go with ahigh-end e-commerce engine that allows for search capabilities, both retail and wholesale sections, and other advanced featureslike a coupon manager. Says Schultz, "That will make it a muchricher vehicle to target [Nail's] audience."

Customers will be able to browse fabrics and feathers, getinformation on how the purses are made, and order entirely onlinefor the first time. "It's going to save us time and reduceour costs," says Nail, "because we're not going tohave to hand-feed all the information to each person we talkto."

The Web design process has had a positive businesswide effect onPursesnickety! "I can't tell you how much it's helpedus organize ourselves," Nail says. "We know whatwe're doing now." They've streamlined their productline, settled their trade show calendar for the entire year, andmoved into the new categories of bridal bags (customized bags usedto carry flowers in weddings) and beach bags.

So what happens after the launch? "We do a search engineoptimization, then the e-mail marketer, where we create newslettersfor [Nail]. After that, [we] look at things like GoogleAdWords," says Ann Vo, Web designer with Interland. Vo saysthat this process, from the initial discovery consultation throughthe various marketing aspects, is pretty typical of how Interlandworks with growing businesses.

Nail and the entire design team are looking forward to thelaunch of the new site. "We're ahead of the game. Ican't wait to see how this increases our sales. I thinkit's going to be tremendous," says Nail. Come back nextmonth, when we'll look at how new cell phones from Sprint andnew laptops from IBM are changing the way Pursesnickety!communicates and works.
