The IPO is shaping up to be one of the largest ever, alongside SpaceX, which is set to go public next week, and OpenAI, which is preparing to file imminently.
Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, Anthropic was once seen as a long shot to catch the ChatGPT maker. That changed with the viral success of Claude Code, its AI coding tool, which helped push Anthropic’s revenue run-rate from $9 billion at the end of 2025 to more than $47 billion in roughly a year. Banks have reportedly told Anthropic and OpenAI that whoever goes public first will get first access to the massive pools of investor capital chasing AI. Anthropic just made the first move.
